GAME SATURDAY AT 11AM - BE THERE AT 10AM

Posted by Frank Traina at Oct 15, 2008 11:00PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

We just found out we are playing in the friendship tournament this Saturday (18th) at 11AM. We do not know who we are playing yet, but it is most likely a team from another park.

Please have your Pirate at the park at 10AM.

**Also, we are pretty sure that there will be a charge at the gate. Something like $3.00 for parents and fans. Not sure if there is a fee for children (non players) or not…..Just to give you a heads up.

Pirates 21
Rays 10

Captain’s Log:

After starting the season with two close losses, the Pirates weren’t going to let their ship sink in Game 3 against the Rays. It all began in practice as every Pirate showed they were ready to battle. They practiced hard, corrected some mistakes made in the previous two games and came into Game 3 with their Pirate swagger.

The bats came alive from the beginning and didn’t stop until the Rays were sent to Davy Jones’ Locker.

The defense was strong as many players contributed solid play with their glove and instinct. They obviously decreased their grog intake the night before as energy levels were high and they were ready to battle any scallywag in their way. Savvy?

The Rays managed to put a rally together in the 5th inning, but the Pirates bats were too strong and their footing on the bases was too swift for any team to come back.

Shiver Me Timbers Play of the Game:
One Eyed William Rodriguez’ ESPN-ish diving catch in left center and then finishing with a beautiful throw to Javy at third base to complete the doubleplay. Expect to see many more webgems from this Pirate. Arrrrrrrrr!

Heave Ho Hitter of the Day:
Jose "The Madman" Muniz reached base every at bat and finished 3-3. This was very special as it was Jose’s first time making solid contact with the ball. Jose worked hard in practice and it showed in the game. The rest of the crew is excited to see Jose get better and better with every practice. Watch out! Arrrrrrrrrrrr!

Most Valuable Pirate:
Julian "Cap’n Swag" Latorre. This pirate had two ITP homeruns and a triple. In the field, his glove sucked in every ball that came its way and his composure and leaderhsip prevented erratic throws around the infield. Lots more to come from this pirate. Arrrrrrr!

Pirate Ball Winners this week:
Alex "Har Har" Hernandez – This young Pirate is known for his dance moves and heckling in the outfield, but he showed a change in gears this past week as he proved to the coaches that he is willing to work hard. It showed in the Rays game with strong and accurate throws from the outfield and a swell hitting display. Did you see his triple?! Now that’s something you can dance to! Arrrrrrrrrrr!
